Anathema (Cloud Prophet Trilogy Series Book 1)

Reychel, an orphaned slave girl, finds out that the world is not what it seems on her 15th birthday. Sheltered from the outside world all of her life, Reychel goes on a journey with people who need her help. She finds out that her past and future are part of a long held secret and prophecy. Megg Jensen builds a universe filled with magic and adventure as Reychel uncovers the truth about her new world and the part she plays in the fate of her people.

I've had the Kindle version of this book since 2012, so this is not a brand new release. However the nice thing about reading a book that was released a few years ago is that the author has finished the full trilogy, and also The Swarm Trilogy which picks up the story 20 years later. If you're into binge reading, this might be a good read for you.

The electronic version of this book is available for free on both Amazon and BN websites. Here's the Amazon link.

I found Jensen's story absorbing and would like to eventually read more of the series. I think the universe that she has built is unique enough that I wanted to keep reading to learn more about her lore. I think Ms. Jensen has a lovely brain for imagination, and I enjoyed that quite immensely. Reychel, the main character, is a pretty great girl herself. I think if she was a real person, we'd probably be good friends. She's strong, smart, and kind. She's likable in a very genuine way. The rest of the characters are definitely three dimensional and interesting. I'm looking forward to reading more character development in the following books. I think the only thing that I found a little clunky was the flow of the story, but I think that this is something that's often evident with indie writers, who don't have a professional editor. Overall, I really enjoyed this read! I would recommend!

Who Am I? Why Am I Doing This?

So who am I? I am a 26 year old woman who has just finished 8 years of college and is rediscovering her love for reading. When I was a young little thing, before  the college credits started piling up, I really enjoyed reading. I devoured any book that came my way. Once college came around, it became more difficult to find the time to enjoy reading non-schoolwork related material. Now that I am finally finished with my doctorate degree, I feel free to restart my obsession hobby of book reading.

I like lots of different books just depending on my mood. I'll read anything from the classics to modern young adult novels and cozy murder mysteries. I am an avid Goodreads user, and enter lots of their giveaways, which lets me review some brand new books for free!

Why am I doing this blog? Well if someone reads it, great, if not then I'm just doing this for myself. Mostly I want to re-teach myself to think critically about books and also I want to improve my writing. I haven't taken an English class since high school, so I apologize if my grammar is sometimes poor. My doctoral degree is medical science related, which required very minimal coursework in literature and writing (and those classes would mostly be useful if I were to write a thesis rather than a book review.)  If you're actually a live body and reading this, thank you for getting to the bottom of this post! Here's a kitten for your troubles:
